Carlos Martín Vergara

  • Lawyer of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and Doctor of Law from the Navarra University (Spain). He worked at the beginning of his career in the Superintendencia de Valores y Seguros (chilean Securities and Exchange Commission) for 5 years; then he was lawyer of the Development Management area of the Enersis Group and was his first legal manager. From this position, he lead in the legal area, all the investment projects of the Enersis Group, among them the most important were the acquisition of Endesa Chile and the globalization process of Enersis through bidding process on distribution and generation companies in Latin America.
  • In 1996 he was appointed as the legal manager and secretary of the board of Endesa Chile. He served in these positions for 17 years, participating as the head of legal matters in the electric businesses of the company at national and Latin-American levels, being relevant in the development of the most important projects of electric generation developed by Endesa Chile in the last 20 years.
  • He has a solid and recognized experience in the electric regulatory area, especially in the development of generation projects, negotiation of electric supply contracts, legal audit of projects, regulatory aspects and biding of water, among others. Owing to his experience as a lawyer in the Superintendencia de Valores y Seguros and as a legal manager and secretary of the board of Endesa Chile, he has an extensive experience and knowledge on the corporate governance and the regulation applicable to the stock companies.
  • Carlos Martín has been director of electric companies in Chile, Colombia y Perú and he is a member of the Valparaiso Bar Association.
  • In the academic area, he has been lecturer and professor of different seminars and specialization courses related to Electric and Water Law.
